Where clinical care and research meet

Keio University School of Medicine

Keio University School of Medicine

Future medicine, delivered to patients today. This is where that promise becomes real.

Through international collaborative clinical research and trials, and through cancer genomics and multi-omics research, we uncover the true nature of medical challenges, connecting those insights.

We are building a research infrastructure that seamlessly bridges basic research and social implementation. By integrating trial management, data science, and regulatory strategy, we deliver research results to patients swiftly and reliably. This end-to-end system is the crystallization of practical expertise we have built over many years.

Beyond that, through partnerships with research institutions and companies around the world, we bring together global wisdom, nurture the next generation of researchers, and carry these results to patients — and to medicine worldwide. From this cycle connecting research, medicine, talent, and society, we continue to create new value.

GI Oncology / Clinical Oncology

The Global Center of Research Excellence on Advanced Medicine is a new medical development hub established at Keio University School of Medicine, with the aim of delivering research outcomes to patients seamlessly.

I have contributed to therapeutic development especially for gastrointestinal cancers, drawing on activities within academic societies and industry-government-academia collaboration in Japan and abroad.

I have also accelerated international collaborative trials and multi-center research, building a system to reliably bring research results to patients; one of my milestones was launching SCRUM-Japan, a nationwide cancer genomic screening platform, which led the global implementation of MRD-based perioperative personalized care using ctDNA analytics. This experience forms the foundation of this center's work in seamlessly connecting research, clinical care, and social implementation.

At this center, we bring together Keio University's outstanding research, clinical, and educational strengths, harnessing cutting-edge technologies — real-world data, multi-omics, AI, and quantum computing technology — to drive an end-to-end pipeline from basic research through international collaborative research to social implementation. We will pursue world-class advanced medical research while cultivating the next generation of physician-scientists, carrying these results forward to patients and to the future of medicine.
